Mia at 6 weeks
Mia has now retired and live with my vet friend Bryant in Newington. She is a true princess and is spoilt to death!!
Magnolia (Mia) is the daughter of Lotus and Dinky. Mia was born on 1 May 2009 with her 3 siblings Princess Bella, Black Dahlia and another black shaded kitten that I didnt get to name as she passed on 10 days after birth.
Mia has a wonderful little face - white as porcelain. When I first looked at her I thought she looks like a little doll hence her show name China Doll. I know I said on Lotus' page that Lotus is one of the most photogenic longhair Burmilla, but I think Mia is a very close match. As you can see above, she is absolutely adorable even at a tender age of 6 weeks.
Mummy Lotus at 6 weeks. Mia is a like a carbon copy of mum.
From the day that Mia's litter was born, I have been toying with the idea of keeping a kitten from that litter but at that time I thought I had been "jinxed" and that all of them were boys. At that time. I had 4 kittens in the litter, 2 brown and 2 black. Unfortunately one the black shaded kitten passed on 10 days after birth so I ended up with only 3.
When week 3 came, I realised that I made a massive mistake and when one of the kittens turned around, he had turned into a she. So I checked all of them again and they have all mysteriously turned into girls! When that happened I was really excited as I realised that I was then able to keep something. At that time I had the intention of rehoming Black Dahlia with my good friends Sherin and Kevin (they are owners of show stars Bonsai and Kenzo) and I will keep Mia and Rebecca (a wonderful lady who has been waiting for 1 whole year for a little girl pet) will have Princess Bella. But Black Dahlia left me when she was just 4 weeks old and I was heartbroken. I cried for days and couldn't fill the void inside me. The other 2 kittens were clearly upset with her passing and Mia became quite quiet and I felt the need to console her and play with her all the time. So as time went by I developed a special bond with Mia and just couldnt let her go.
Sherin and Kevin will now have to wait for their "little Yumi" and I thank them for their understanding :)
In Jan 2010, Mia is 8 months old. She is absolutely stunning with great doming on her head and good spacing between the ears. Her eye colour is now an elusive green much like her father Dinky. Her overall facial features is pleasing and face shape is sweet and round which is great for a Longhair Burmilla. Her coat colour is very even with just a slight tinge of brown at the end of each hair shaft. Her coat density is also great, not too fluffy but substantial enough to give a fantatic plume tail and glorious ruff under the chin. Her silky coat texture can easly rival our beautiful Holly. With the sookiest temperament to match her good looks, Mia is definitely a keeper :)
Mia was awarded her first Best In Show Title at the Highlands Cat Club Show 2009 at 5 month of age by experienced Qld judge Alan Davies.
